MARY FRANCES BELCHER
THIS AFTERNOON

Mrs. Mary Frances Belcher passed away in a local hospital Monday night. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W.F. Overhulser, were held this afternoon at the James funeral home, with interment in Hazelwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Alvis, William Belcher, Jack Pasch, Leonard Lemke, William Haines and James Belcher.

Mary Frances Linton, daughter of James and Luvica Linton was born in Lebanon, Ind., March 25, 1863, and passed away Feb. 2, 1948, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 8 days.

In 1882, she was married in Lebanon, Ind., to James Belcher, who died in 1904. To them were born four sons and two daughters, Claude, Jasper, Earl and Roe Chester, and Belva and Stella. Of these, Belva, Claude, Stella and Earl preceded their mother in death. The other two sons, Jasper and Roe Chester are left to mourn. There are also 26 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, John T. Linton of Pittsboro, Ind., and many friends and relatives.

Mrs. Belcher came to Grinnell some thirty years ago following the death of her husband and has made her home here ever since, most of the time wih her son, Roe Chester.
