CLOYD GROSS RITES FRIDAY

Cloyd P. Gross, 78, of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Schlobohm of the Malcom-Sheridan Parish officiating. Organist will be Barbara Graham, and vocalist will be Alfred Steen.

Pallbearers will be Charles Anthony, Ben Brown, Rodney Brown, Warren Dee, Lester Graff, Raymond Graham, Ronald Gross and Tim Stanley. Honorary bearers will be Sam Ceaser, Davis Gross, Roland Gross and Cleo Warstler. Burial will be in the Sheridan Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.

The son of Jesse and Ada Burdick Gross, he was born near Searsboro on July 1, 1907. He attended rural school and Grinnell High School, then farmed in Chester and Sugar Creek townships.

On Aug. 16, 1936, he was married to Ruth Parker at Unionville, Mo. They farmed for 52 years in Sheridan Township.

Mr. Gross was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church and the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, a foster son, Donald Parker of rural Malcom; two foster grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Elaine Stanley, both of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clarence.
