FUNERAL RITES
HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Errett Horn, 52, a farmer in the Barnes City-Deep River area for 16 years, were held Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Steffy Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Don Job, Oskaloosa. Mrs. Ed Kerwin played the funeral music and accompanied Miss Sandra Kerwin who sang "In the Garden" and "Ivory Palaces."

Interment was in Union Mills cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Maxwell, Carl Speas, Harry Pierce, Ralph Phillips, Earl Beach and Maurice Boatman.

Errett, son of James and Nettie Horn, was born in Davis county, Iowa, Feb. 8, 1908, and passed away at his home near Montezuma at 52 years of age.

In his youth, he was baptized in the Holiness church at Moulton, Iowa. He attended rural school in Davis county and Moulton High School. He farmed with his father until his marriage to Hattie M. Davis, on Mar. 5, 1932. To this union, five daughters and four sons were born.

The Horn family lived in the Coatsville, Mo., vicinity until 1944, when they moved to Poweshiek county, where they have lived in the Deep River and Barnes City communities.

Errett was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife and children: Velma Hanson, Oakland, Iowa; Shirley Van Dee, Deep River; Marilyn Gibson, Chenoa, Ill.; Lola Benefiel, Des Moines; Davis, Glenwood; Richard, Robert, Linda and Randy, at home; three granddaughters and one grandson. Five sisters and two brothers: Verna Horn, Juretta Ridgeway and Lorena Horn, all of Moulton, and Vivian Horn and Geneva Horn, Kirksville, Mo., other relatives and many friends mourn his passing.
