MRS. CRAWFORD
DIES AT 81

Pauline S. Crawford, 81, of Grinnell died Thursday afternoon at Friendship Manor.

A family graveside service will be held following cremation at 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Hazelwood Cemetery. A memorial service for Mrs. Crawford will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, memorials may be sent to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The daughter of James and Mary Manning Sheppard, she was born Aug. 6, 1894, in Minnewaukan, N.D. She attended public schools in North Dakota and South Dakota, later attending the University of South Dakota.

On July 7, 1917, she was married to Irving Robison Crawford in Vermillion, S.D. The couple had three children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford lived n Huron, S.D. Mr. Crawford was assigned to the War Crimes Commission, and they moved to Dachau, Germany, returning to Huron in 1950. They moved to Grinnell in 1955.

Mrs. Crawford was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church. She was past South Dakota state president of the American Legion Auxiliary, past president of Chapter F of the P.E.O. in Huron, a member of Chapter B.M. of P.E.O. in Grinnell, and a member of the Poweshiek County Chapter, D.A.R.

Survivors include her three children, Coe I. Crawford of Guadalajara, Mexico, James K. Crawford of Des Moines, and Mrs. Al (Mary Kay) Eisenman of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters Mrs. Mae S. Saunders and Mrs. Iwae S. Payne.
