CECIL JACOBS RITES HELD TUESDAY

Funeral series for Cecil C. Jacobs were conducted by the Rev. Lester Hall at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, at the Montezuma Methodist Church. Music was provided by Mrs. Vincent Johnson, Mrs. Earl DeJong and Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Fred Cochran, Calvin Harden, Edward Hollmann, Milo Phillips, Frank Wheeler and Lester Galbraith. Burial was at the Masonic IOOF Cemetery.

Mr. Jacobs, 72, passed away Saturday evening, January 10, at the Mahaska Manor in Oskaloosa.

The son of Samuel Willard and Ella Mae Ringle Jacobs, he was born on Feb. 20, 1897, near Deep River.

Except for three years in Alaska, he spent his entire life in this area. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of W orld War I. He belonged to Community Barracks No. 2326, the American Legion and the Knights of Pythias.

On Jan. 6, 1920, he was united in marriage with Lillie Mae Sanders and to this union one daughter was born.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie; their daughter, Mrs. Lester (LaRetta) Baird of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Carl (Bonnie) Schlesselman of Deep River, Mrs. Terry (Sheryl) Thompson of Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Kim (Vicki) Criswell of Newton, Charles, Douglas, Randal and Kimberlee Baird; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Hutchinson of Montezuma and Mrs. Phyllis Beam of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Samuel Donald of Rock Island, Ill.; and two nieces and six nephews.
