SERVICES SET

Sarah Lydia Elliott, 96, of Long Beach, Calif., a former resident of Grinnell and the widow of Ralph Elliott, died Tuesday morning in Long Beach.

The daughter of William and Mildred Williams Barnaman, she was born Sept. 15, 1876, in Missouri.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott farmed north of Grinnell until 1940 when they moved to Grinnell where she made her home for eight years. Mr. Elliott died in 1943. For the past 25 years Mrs. Elliott had made her home in Long Beach to be near her daughter, Mrs. Helen Thomas.

Mrs. Elliott was a charter member of Gold Star Mothers of World War I.

She is survived by her daughter Helen of Long Beach; four step-children, Homer Elliott of Grinnell, Alvis Elliott of Akron, Colo., Mrs. Avis Wilson of Wray, Colo., and Wesley Elliott of Oakland, Calif.; and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one step-child, Herman Elliott and one sister.

Graveside services for Mrs. Elliott will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hazelwood Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon L. Smith, pastor of the Grinnell Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Delbert Elliott, Hollis Elliott, Kenneth Elliott, and Paul Elliott.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home Friday evening.
