CHARLES SIMBRO

Charles E. Simbro, 85, of 902 Prince St. died Thursday afternoon, March 17, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the First Friends Church, with the Rev. Keith Briggs officiating. Organist will be Marilyn Burnham, and vocalists will be Bruce and Valerie Burnham. Pallbearers will be Charles Brammer, Robert Burnham, Del Coppinger, Tom Good, Ervin Meredith, Harvey Mikel Jr., and George Morrison.

Burial will be at the Dunreath Cemetery near Monroe.

The son of James and May McDaniel Simbro, he was born May 3, 1897, in Calhoun County. The family moved to Marion County where he attended rural school.

He was married to Genevieve Jack on Jan. 3, 1932, at Lancaster, Mo. Mr. Simbro farmed in Marion and Jasper counties and he worked for the One Minute Washing Machine Co. at Kellogg for 14 years.

In 1964, the family moved to Ladysmith, Wis., where he was employed by the Swanke Lumber Co. Following his retirement he moved to Grinnell. He was a member of the First Friends Church.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve; his children, Ronald K. Simbro of Pacific, Mo., Sharon L. Wetterling of Cadott, Wis., Jim Simbro of Grinnell, Charles D. Simbro of Baldwin, Wis., A. Burton Simbro of Monroe, Viola J. Dietrick of Monroe, G. Eugene Simbro of Knoxville, G. Arlene Hicks of Newton, Raymond E. Simbro of Des Moines and Betty L. Shinn of Knoxville; 49 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Simbro of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary E. Paul; one son, Leroy J. Simbro; a brother, Jack Simbro; two infant sisters; and five grandchildren.
