HUGH GALLAGHER
PASSES AWAY

(From the Brooklyn Chronicle)

Hugh Gllagher was born Sept. 15, 1871. He was the youngest child of Patrick and Mary Dougherty Gallagher. He was born on his parents' farm in Lincoln township and spent his entire life in this one home.

Since the death of his only sister some years ago, Hugh had taken over the cares of the household and did his best to help his brothers keep up the home.

Not long ago his brother Barney passed away and Owen and Hugh were left to share the home together. Just before Thanksgiving Hugh met with an accident which caused infection. This finally made it necessary to enter St. Francis hospital. His weakened condition did not respond to treatment, and complications made his illness critical. On Wednesday evening, Dec. 14, he peacefully passed away. He will be sadly missed in the neighborhood where he was so well known. His cheerful disposition and friendly spirit made many friends who are saddened by his death, coming as it did, so soon after the passing of the brother upon whom the brothers depended so much. Since Barney's death Hugh had grieved unceasingly and this grief undoubtedly hastened his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his brother Michael of Portsmouth and one brother, Owen, at home. The funeral service was held on Friday morning, Dec. 16, at 10 o'clock from St. Patrick's church with requiem mass.
