DORA E. SCHWERTFEGER

Dora E. Schwertfeger, 92, of Manchester, formerly of Deep River, died Jan. 5 in a Manchester hospital. She was the daughter of John and Margaret Smith Refer, born July 19, 1900 at Victor.

She attended school at St. John's Lutheran School south of Victor.

Dora was united in marriage with Lewis F. Schwertfeger Aug. 17, 1922 in St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church of rural Williamsburg. They farmed many years at Deep River. Mr. Schwertfeger died Feb. 16, 1971.

Dora has lived for the past several years at Manchester, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church there.

Dora was the mother of two sons, Lewis of Deep River and Richard of Fairfax; two daughters, Dorothy of Cedar Rapids and Mary of Manchester. Surviving are 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Other survivors: a sister, Margaret McHarg of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Carl Refer of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, one granddaughter, one great grandson, two sisters: Laura and Clara, and brother John. Her brother, Clifford (Kip) Refer died Jan. 9.

Mrs. Schwertfeger's final resting place in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River.
