SEARSBORO MAN
DIES HERE THURSDAY;
FUNERAL SATURDAY

E. Everett Baker, Searsboro, died Thursday morning at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Baker was born the son of George M. and Emma Joy Baker at Peoria, Iowa, on Sept. 24, 1888. As a youth he came to Poweshiek County with his parents. He was educated in the Seasboro schools.

He was married to Louisa Mitchell on Feb. 17, 1909 in Grinnell. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year. They made their home in Searsboro since the marriage. Baker was a carpenter and was actively engaged in his trade until he became ill the Friday preceding his death.

Baker was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Searsboro. Within a few months he would have held his membership for 50 years.

Survivors are his wife; his son, Raymond of Grinnell; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his brothers, Pearl of Mount Clements, Mich., Howard of New Sharon, John of Des Moines, and Perry of Adel; his sisters, Mrs. O.H. Campbell of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. James Swift of Rosehill and Mrs. Elmer Woods of New Sharon.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Perry of Gilman officiated. Pallbearers were H.P. Broyles, Dale Snook, Carl Boget, John McDowell, Rollo Whitaker and John Queen. Honorary bearers were William Laymiller, Ollie McDowell, Harris Vande Noord, O.L. Olson, Ross Esler and Lester Guerts. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bohstedt. The flower committee were Wilma Hempel, Marjorie Nash and Dona Bartlett.

Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Searsboro.
