SUCCUMBS FRIDAY

Samuel Clifford Fritz, 67, Rte. 2, died at a local hospital Friday afternoon. He had been in ill health for the past several months.

Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. W.H. Warrior of the Bethel Methodist church officiating. Music was provide by a male quartet comprised of Homer McDowell, Bernard Kooistra, Kenneth Ratcliff, and Warren Stanley, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Macy.

Flowerbearers were Mrs. Delmar Ahrens, Mrs. Raymond Gove, and Mrs. Wallace Williams. Pallbearers were Charles Fritz, Colin Fritz, Keith Briggs, Richard Briggs, John H. Raife, and James S. Craiger. Burial was in Bethel cemetery.

Mr. Fritz was well known in the Grinnell-Lynnville area as he had spent his lifetime here farming southwest of Grinnell, and had been an auctioneer as many sales in the surrounding area.

He was born November 30, 1890, the son of Richard A. and Sara V. Martin Fritz in Jasper county. On June 24, 1924, at Grinnell, he married Margaret Moyle and to this union were born five children.

Survivors include his widow; three sons, Richard of Newton and Willis of New York City, and Stanton of Ames; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Selzer of Grinnell; and two grandchildren, Paula Jane Selzer and Pamela Joanne Fritz.

Also surviving are two sisters, Lessie Fritz of Grinnell, and Mrs. Roscoe (Bessie) Sparks of Lynnville; and two brothers, C.W. of Des Moines and Lehrl of Grinnell.

Besides his parents, one sister, Elna Briggs, and an infant daughter preceded him in death.
