OBITUARY OF WRIGHT RAFFETY

Funeral services for Samuel Wright Raffety were held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy White, Rev. George Blagg officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Johnson. Pall bearers were cousins of the deceased: A.A. Crews, Ellsworth Crews, Forest Crews, Mike Sullen, Orville Gilbert and Roy White. Interment was at Hazelwood.

Samuel Wright Raffety, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Raffety of Oakdale, California, was born June 15, 1900 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He departed this life March 28, 1926 after a brief illness at the age of 25 years, 9 months and 13 days. He moved with his parents to Oakdale, Calif.

October 1st, he came to Grinnell to visit relatives and friends, making his home the greater part of the time at the home of his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Roy White of this city until about two months ago when he went to Newton and was employed at the Woodrow Washing Machine Co. He there made his home with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Gilbert.

Two weeks ago he went to Cedar Rapids to visit friends and was taken ill with pneumonia and passed away Sunday morning at the St. Luke Hospital.

He leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother of Oakdale, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Ward and Drusilla, of San Francisco, California.

Mr. Raffety was a man of quiet, unassuming, kindly ways, of upright character and always most thoughtful and considerate of others. It is the passing of a good man who will be sincerely mourned by all who knew him.
