PEARL W. ADKINS

Pearl W. Adkins, 86, of Muscatine, a long-time former resident of Grinnell, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Muscatine Care Center.

A funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 20, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Jasch, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Amo. Pallbearers were Gene and Lee Adkins, Darlo Kelting, Les Septer, Kurt Stewart and Dan and David Verwers. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

The daughter of Frederick and Selma Osten Weber, she was born Nov. 12, 1917, on the family farm in rural Poweshiek County. She was raised in the Grinnell area and attended Grinnell schools. She was married on Sept. 3, 1938, in St. John's Lutheran Church to Loris Kenneth Adkins. They farmed near Grinnell for 40 years, moving into Grinnell in 1977. She moved to Muscatine in 1998. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter Carole Verwers of Muscatine; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother Paul Weber and one sister Gladys Weber, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
