EARL GRAHAM SERVICES HELD

Earl E. Graham, 76, of Rte. 1, Gilman, died Monday morning, Nov. 30, at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Allyson and Peter Sawtell, co-pastors of the Chester-Newburg Parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and vocalists were Ruth Ann Dayton and Wilma Schmitz. Pallbearers were Marvin Emmert, Willard Emmert, David Graham, John Graham, Randall Graham, Ronald Graham, Thomas Graham, Kevin Ihms and Wilbur Osland. Flower bearers were Mary Emmert, Jess and Lorraine Knudson. Ginger Graham and Karen Ihms.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery. A memorial in Mr. Graham's name has been established with the Chester Church.

The son of Eli and Willomina Hoover Graham, he was born Nov. 13, 1905, at Searsboro. He attended rural school near the family farm and later attended Searsboro School.

On June 1, 1927, he was married to Laura Belle Copeland at her parents' home near Searsboro. Mr. and Mrs. Graham farmed near Searsboro, Montezuma, Gilman and Sheridan and had farmed on their present farm in Chester Township since 1940.

Mr. Graham was a recognized leader in Angus cattle-breeding. He was a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau, held national and state memberships in the Angus Cattle Association, was a member of the A.S.C.S. Committee in Chester Township and the Chester Township School Board, and served on the board of directors of the Farmers Co-op Elevator of Gilman.

He is survived by his children, Eulice Graham of New Orleans, La., Vernon Graham of rural Grinnell, George Graham of rural Gilman, Loretta Siebke of Davenport and Duane Graham of Bloomingon, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Brooks of Grinnell and Elsie Dieleman of Creston. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
