FOR L.H. CRAWFORD

Funeral services for Luther H. Crawford were conducted by the Rev. Howard Hayes at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma. Music was proved by William Rempp, whose solo was accompanied by Alice Underwood on the organ.

Mr. Crawford, 83, passed away Sunday, June 9 at Friendship Manor in Grinnell.

Casket bearers were Mr. Crawford's nephews Wavern Briggs, Therald Henry, Floyd Richman, Lyle McFerren, Forest Crawford and Earnest McFerren. Interment was at the Masonic-IOOF Cemetery.

The son of Leroy and Mary Ann Crawford, Luther was born at Wardensville, North Virginia on November 1, 1884. At an early age he moved with his parents to Iowa where he has since resided.

On Feb. 10, 1908, he was united in marriage with Adelaide McFerren. To this union one son was born. The first years of their married life were spent on a farm near Montezuma. After retiring from farming, Mr. Crawford owned and operated a grocery store. In later years, he was in the insurance and real estate business.

Mr. Crawford was a member of the First Methodist Church; the Odd Fellows Lodge; and the Knights of Pythias, in which he took an active part as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Mr. Crawford is survivesd by his wife of 60 years, one son Harry of Oskaloosa, and two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Johnson of Newton and Mrs. Alberta Cox of Grinnell.
