RITES HELD FOR
IVA RHODES, 87

Mrs. Iva Rhodes, 87, of Marshalltown, a former resident of the Sheridan area, died Sunday at Marshalltown Manor.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, with burial at the Sheridan Cemetery.

The daughter of John C. and Clara Yates Memmer, she was born March 15, 1888, in Bertram, Iowa. She as raised in the Chelsea area and educated in rural schools.

On March 22, 1910, she was married to Wilbur W. Rhodes in Tama County. The couple farmed in the Sheridan area and east of Grinnell for several years.

Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary at Toledo.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Wooten of Tama; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Franzel Memmer and Blaine Memmer, both of Wyoming; and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Irvin of Wyoming and Mrs. Ethel Van Osdol of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1946; two sons, Irvin W. and W. Floyd; two grandchildren; three brothers and six sisters.
