MARY A. BEYER, 63

Mary A. Schultz Beyer, 63, Montezuma, died on Sun., Jan. 28, 1996, at her home of a lung ailment.

Funeral services were held Fri., Feb. 2, 1996 at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Brian Carter, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Montezuma, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers were Artie Craver, Dan Dawley, Wiley Van Ommen, Raymond Watson, Dahl Wickham and Randy Wickham. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Mary was born Nov. 26, 1932 in Grinnell to Charles Herbert and Faye Bogart Carter. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools. On Feb. 28, 1950, she was married to Harold Eugene Schultz in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell, where she worked in the nursing department at the former St. Francis Hospital and later Grinnell General Hospital. From 1975 to 1979, she managed the Wiltfang Apartments in Grinnell.

On March 5, 1979, she was married to Lester O. Beyer in Grinnell. The couple made their home on a farm near Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Harold; and one granddaughter, Amy Lynn Cox.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lester O. Beyer of rural Montezuma; two sons: Gary L. Schultz of Garner, N.C., and Mark A. Schultz of Montezuma; one daughter, Julia Cox of Montezuma; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Jerry Carter of Grinnell; and two sisters, Barb Lint of Newton and Linda Wilburn of Roach, Missouri.
