MRS. W.O. WILLARD

The sad news of the death of Mrs. W.O. Willard in Deer Lodge, Mont., where she has been visiting her son, Dr. Harry Willard, reached Grinnell in a telegram Thursday morning. Mrs. Willard passed away peacefully at 9 o'clock on Wednesday evening. She suffered a stroke of apoplexy on Tuesday and sank rapidly. On receipt of the first news, Mr. Willard and Miss Ruth Willard started at once for Deer Lodge but they were met at Aberdeen by another telegram that Mrs. Willard was failing fast and that further attempt to reach Deer Ledge in time would be fruitless. They left the train at Aberdeen and reached Grinnell again at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. Dr. Harry Willard, with the body, is expected to reach Grinnell tomorrow and the funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 o'clock p.m. from the house.

Mrs. Willard had been in Deer Lodge for several weeks. Although not strong she had been well and according to a letter received from her last Monday, was planning to start for Spokane, Wash., this week to visit a brother. It was a cheerful letter, containing no hint of illness. The blow when it came, came without warning.
