FUNERAL RITES
HELD SATURDAYFuneral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the James funeral home for William J. Peters, 86, who died at a Grinnell rest home Thursday afternoon. The Rev. E.E. Beattie officiated. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery.
The son of William and Jane Peters, he was born Nov. 22, 1867 at Frankfort, Ill., and came to this community with his parents at the age of three. Mr. Peters had farmed in the community and for some time was the night watchman for the merchants of Grinnell.
Pallbearers were Lester Harris, Gene Holmes, Abner Tone, Glen Bell Sr., William Osborn, and Robert Revell Sr.
