FUNERAL OF
PAUL THOMANN
IS HELD TODAY

Proprietor Of
Successful Factory
Died Suddenly Thursday

Funeral services for Paul Thomann, head of the Tomann-Wagg Manufacturing company, whose sudden death was announced in Thursday's Herald-Register, were held this afternoon from the Smith Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Father Michael Moriarity. Pall bearers were A.W. Hinderman and Chris Hoeg, old friends from Wapello, Mr. Thomann's former home, John Palmer of Grinnell, and three of the salesmen, D.D. Owens of Crawfordsville, Iowa, H.A. Drinkall of Columbus Junction, and J.D. Bowser of Morning Sun. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Mr. Thomann had moved his factory here from Wapello last September to secure better shipping facilities and had built up a prosperous business. It is the present intention to continue the factory, which manufactures electric fence controllers. Miss Ardell Voeks, Mrs. Thomann's sister, who has been closely associated with Mr. Thomann in the management of the business, will continue her connection.

Mr. Thomann was born August 22, 1896, in Riverside, Iowa. When he was a small boy the family moved to Hills, Iowa, and later to Iowa City, where he graduated from high school. He served in the army in World War I and was for a time engaged in the garage business in Iowa City. Later he was in the real estate business in Minneapolis and while there formed the Tomann-Wagg Co., moving the factory to Wapello when the opportunity arose to secure a building there.

He was married in 1932 to Miss Alba Voeks, who survives him with three children, Joanne 11, Paul, Jr., 10 and John David 7. He is also survived by his father, Frank Thomann of Iowa City, two brothers, Harvey of Iowa City and Giles of Spring Grove, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Irwin S. Coons of St. Paul and Lucille of Iowa City.

Mr. Thomann had been in Grinnell for only a few months but had shown himself a successful business man and a genial friend. He had recently purchased the Dr. R.T. Mills residence on Broad street. His untimely death is deeply regretted by all with whom he had been associated in any way.

Grinnell business houses closed from 2 to 3 o'clock this afternoon out of respect to Mr. Thomann.
