MRS. DIMIT DIES;
SERVICES SATURDAY

Mrs. Erma M. Dimit, 68, wife of C.H. Dimit Sr. of 1600 Eighth Ave., Grinnell died Wednesday evening at Grinnell General Hospital East following a lingering illness of the past few months.

The daughter of Ira E. and Minnie Daugherty Goodrich, Mrs. Dimit was born Aug. 3, 1900, in Grinnell. She attended the Grinnell schools and was graduated from Grinnell high school. She also attended the University of Nebraska and Grinnell College.

On May 30, 1924, Mrs. Dimit was married to Charles Howard Dimit Sr. at Albia, Iowa. Four children, all of whom survive, were born to the couple.

Mrs. Dimit was a lifelong resident of Grinnell and was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Soroptimist Club.

Survivors include her husband; four children -- Charles Howard Dimit Jr. of Thailand, Mrs. William J. (Donna) Myers of Austin, Minn.; Dennis Dimit of Fresno, Calif.; and Gerald G. Dimit, Austin, Minn.; eight grandchildren -- Susan and Charles Myers of Austin; Dana, Cheryl and David Dimit of Austin; and Dwight, Eric, and Brian Dimit of Fresno, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Gladys) Rhodes of Ripon, Calif.

Mrs. Dimit was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Bernice Burden.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dimit will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ (Congregational) with the Rev. Newell E. Davis, minister of the church, officiating.

Organist will be Norman Goodbrod and pallbearers will be Tom Eggelstone of Boone, Hoyt Woody of Reasnor, and Lyman G. Case, Hiram P. Broyles, Glen Harris and Donald Phillips of Grinnell.

Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home. Should friends so desire, memorials in Mrs. Dimit's name may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Mrs. Wayne Reams, the Grinnell director.
