FUNERAL SERVICES
HERE TODAY FOR
DORA ELLIOTT, 85

Mrs. Dora Elliott, 85, widow of Elrie B. Elliott, died early Tuesday morning at a Newton hospital where she had been admitted Apr. 26.

She had not been in the best of health the past few years and had been making her home at a Newton rest home.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland, pastor of the Grinnell Methodist church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Pallbearers were Basil Arment, Mike Brooks, Brook Lamb, Dwight Pearce, Don Phipps and Harry Rehberg. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the daughter of Semantha Long and William S. Parmley and was born Jan. 19, 1877, near Sigourney. The family moved to Texas when she was a small girl and she later returned to Iowa.

She was united in marriage with Elrie B. Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott farmed for a number of years in Rock Creek township in Jasper county until they moved to Grinnell to make their home.

Mrs. Elliott was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans.

Preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers and five sisters, and her husband in June of 1957. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
