RALPH RAMSEY DIES
AT WHEEL OF TRUCK

A Brooklyn man, stricken as he was on his way home from work, died at the wheel of the truck he was driving on Highway 63 about 6 p.m. Friday.

He was Ralph Ramsey, 56, who was driving a Manatt Transportation truck loaded with sand which went off the road at the crest of a hill, about four miles north of the junction of Highways 6 and 63. The truck, undamaged, ran through a shallow ditch, broke through a fence, and stopped in a field a short distance from the road.

Passing motorists stopped at the accident scene and called authorities. Acting county medical examiner, Dr. William Grimmer pronounced the stricken man dead at the scene. Death was caused by a coronary attack.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer's funeral home in charge of the Rev. G.H. Hulsebus, pastor of First United Presbyterian church. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was organist.

Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with G.J. Manatt, Merlin Manatt, Clair Manatt, Jim Ostrom, Camiel Van Tomme and Andrew Wilson serving as pallbearers. Mr. and Mrs. William Roth and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Richeson were in charge of flowers.

The son of John and Sarah McLain Ramsey, he was born near Brooklyn Sept. 10, 1905, and died Aug. 31, 1962. On July 2, 1925, he was married to Nadine Untiedt who preceded him in death in 1945.

Mr. Ramsey had operated a cream route for the Brooklyn Cooperative Creamery for 34 years before starting work for Manatts, Inc., three years ago. He had been a member of the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years.

Survivors include three brothers and one sister: Ross of Brooklyn, Howard of Montezuma, Lyle of Adel and Mrs. Mildred Korns of Brooklyn. He also leaves four nephews and one niece, Don Irving of Honolulu, Hawaii, Gaylord Irving and Lyle Thorpe of Des Moines, Marvin Ramsey of Montezuma and Mrs. Lazell (Maxine) Van Deventer of Rockford.
