KATIE WHEELER

Katie Belle Wurster, daughter of Gabriel and Maud H. Wurster, was born Nov. 14, 1884, near Hale, Mo. She passed away at a local hospital Feb. 26, 1958, at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 12 days.

She was the fifth child in a family of nine and attended school and grew to young womanhood near Hale, Mo.

On March 8, 1905, she was united in marriage to Clifton W. Wheeler and resided on a farm near Hale for four years. From there they moved to Erie, Kan., where they lived until 1918 when they moved to a farm near Malcom. There they made their home until retiring. Since that time they have lived near and in Grinnell. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1955.

Four children were born to this union: Mrs. Harvey (Sadie) Jensen of Grinnell; Mrs. Henry (Floyd) Rohlfing of Malcom; Mr. Gail C. Wheeler of Malcom; and Mrs. Raymond (Lona) Bangham of Grinnell.

She was baptized and became a member of the Methodist church while a young girl. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, and Rebekah lodge during her earlier years.

She enjoyed especially her home and family and the friends home and family and the friendship of all her relatives and many friends.

After suffering a stroke eleven years ago Mrs. Wheeler was unable to lead an active life but still enjoyed visits with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Colliver of Marshall, Mo.

She is survived by her husband, one son, three daughters, seven granddaughters, and six great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Elzada Lester of Grinnell; Mrs. Fannie Bedell and Mrs. Zelpha Osgood of Kansas City, Mo. Four brothers, George Wurster of Denver, Colo.; Frank and Albert Wurster of Mankato, Minn.; and Milton Wurster of Miami, Fla., and nephews and nieces.

Funeral services weere from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home March 1. Dr. G.S. Bruland officiated, and burial was in Ivy Hill cemetery, Malcom. Ed Bohstedt was soloist and Mrs. Esther Auman accompanist.

Pallbearers were Bruce Palmer, Allen Wheeler, William Morrison, Harold Wurster, Frank Wheeler, and Laverne Morrison.
