Albert Davidson was born in Clinton, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, June 17, 1854 and died in Des Moines, Iowa Thursday, April 10th, 1913, at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 23 days.

In infancy he came with his parents to Iowa and settled near Brooklyn where he grew to manhood and spent practically the whole of his life.

On June 18th, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Katharine Dunlap, and to this union were born two sons, William A. and Ernest L., both of whom live near Brooklyn.

At the age of 15 years, August 29, 1869, he united with the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church of Brooklyn, and has been a member of its official board for a number of years, being chairman of the Board of Stewards at the time of his death.

During the winter of 1894 failing health sent Mr. Davidson to Florida, which proved so beneficial that he returned in the spring much improved. Since that time his health has been good, and he has been very active. Only the immediate family knew that during the past winter he was bothered with shortness of breath, especially while he walked.

Mr. Davidson went to Des Moines Thursday, April 10th, to attend a Bankers’ Convention, as the representative of the Poweshiek Co. Savings Bank, of which he was president. The day was spent delightfully and he was at the Rock Island Station, waiting for the train to come home at about 9:00 o’clock p.m., when suddenly he asked friends who were talking with him to help him into the depot as he was sick, but he sank down to the floor by their assistance. It chanced that the city ambulance and two city physicians were at the depot awaiting the arrival of the train, so immediate medical care was had. They place him in the ambulance and took him to the Mercy Hospital. But just as they were transferring him from the stretcher to the bed his life went out. From the first attack he did not regain consciousness. He died of heart failure.

Mr. Davidson, by his upright and enterprising habits made a place for himself in the whole community. His genial smile was inspiring and cheering. These characteristics made him a good neighbor, father and husband, and the whole community mourns his death.

The funeral services were held from his late home, conducted by his pastor. The body was interred in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
