Funeral rites for Mrs. S. N. Shuler were conducted Sunday afternoon, May 29 at four o’clock at Grace Methodist church in Brooklyn with the Rev. Clarence E. Thiele in charge. Mrs. C. H. Manatt, at the organ, played favorite selections and hymns. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: John F. Roudabush, Perry Willett, Roy Kriegel, Forrest Read, Edwin Montgomery and Maynard McLain.
Mrs. Shuler died last Friday evening at the Community hospital in Grinnell where she had been a patient for several weeks. She was 69 years old.
Flora Effie Kraft Shuler, daughter of Peter and Mary Kraft, was born in Scott township, Powseshiek county, Iowa, January 25, 1880, and died May 27, 1949, at the Community hospital in Grinnell. She was married May 4, 1898 to Samuel N. Shuler of Brooklyn. Two children were born to the couple: Leo Eugene and Eva Mamie (Mrs. Bert Walford), both of Brooklyn.
Mrs. Shuler was a member of the Fairmont Methodist church when a young girl. On March 27, 1921, she transferred her membership to the Brooklyn Grace Methodist church. With the exception of recent years she was an active member of the Pythian lodge.
Mrs. Shuler is survived by her husband; two children; two grandchildren, Pauline Walford Pugh and Stanley Walford; two great grandchildren, Tommy Pugh and David Walford; three brothers, Dennis Kraft of Brooklyn, John Kraft of Northwood and Murry Kraft of Mason City; three nieces, Sybil Lytle of Minneapolis, Minn.; Grace Pierson of Collegdale, Tenn., and Lenora Burns of Los Angeles, Calif., and one nephew Lester Kraft of Northwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Rieck.
