Rites Held Tuesday for Mrs. Haswell

Succumbs at Her Home in South Brooklyn; Ill Many Years

Funeral services for Mrs. George Haswell were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Haswell home in South Brooklyn with the Rev. M. A. Robeson of the Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers; W. I. Wasson, U. J. Hansen, Ed Breniman, Verne Wolfe, Wm. McCulloch, and P.E. Winters.

While she had been in failing health for several years, Mrs. Haswell has been able to care for her household duties until about eleven weeks ago when she was confined to her bed with heart trouble. She died Sunday, July 9 at her home at the age of 73.

Mrs. Haswell was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter for 43 years and a member of the Presbyterian church but has been inactive for several years because of her health.

Mary Ann Flaig, oldest daughter of Joseph and Mercy Dee Flaig, was born in Brooklyn October 3, 1870. In 1887 she married Charles Reynolds. Two children, Hazel and Howard, were born to this union, both of whom are deceased.

On December 12, 1904 she was married to George Haswell at Hastings, Nebr., and a short time later moved to Montana where they made their home for three years and then returned to a farm near Brooklyn. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Amos Reida.

In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Haswell is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Kann and Mrs. Harry Eaton, both of Keokuk; a brother, Joseph Flaig of Des Moines; four grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children and one sister.
