MAXINE CASWELL DIES IN OREGON

Maxine Simmon Caswell, 65, formerly of Grinnell, died at the family ranch near Keno, Ore., following a brief illness.

A recitation of the Rosary was held Jan. 2, and a Requiem Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Concluding services were at the Keno Cemetery.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1921, in Grinnell and was raised in Newton. She moved to Los Angeles, Calif., with her family in 1939 and graduated from Inglewood High school.

She returned to Newton a year later and was married to Richard Caswell of Knoxville. They returned to California where they lived for 30 years, moving to their ranch near Keno in 1970.

Mrs. Caswell is survived by her husband of Keno; her mother, Hazel Kline Simmon of Keno; one son, Larry of Keno; and a daughter, Julie Kerns of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Simmon; one brother, Larry; and an infant daughter, Pamela.

Mrs. Caswell was a niece of Gladys Powell and Margaret Campbell of Newton.
