MRS. L.N. BUSBYFuneral services for Mrs. L.N. Busby were held at the Steffy Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. G .R. Dieken officiating. Interment was at the Union Mills cemetery.
Casket bearers were Arthur Busby, Clifford Busby, Harold Busby, Claudius Eflin, Marvin Eflin and Ralph Maudlin, all nephews of Mrs. Busby.
Music was provided by Mrs. C.E. Hudson and Mrs. Esther Moore.
OBITUARY
Mary Elizabeth, daughter of John and Margaret Miller, was born October 28, 1872 in Kirksville, Iowa. At the age of seven years, her mother died and she was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Graham of New Sharon and raised as their own daughter.
On March 26, 1890 she was united in marriage with Louis N. Busby at New Sharon. To this union seven children were born: Grace L. (Mrs. R.A. Cox), Montezuma, Iowa; Maude M. (Mrs. Eigil Kalhauge), Chicago, Ill., Frank D. Busby, Fayetteville, Ark., Forrest Gaylord who died in infancy, Oscar R. Busby, Newton, Iowa, Esther S. (Mrs. George Vinsant) Tampa, Fla., Eva G. (Mrs. John McCormick), Tucson, Ariz.
She became a member of the Christian Church of Union Mills in her youth.
She and her husband farmed near New Sharon and Montezuma until 1925 when they moved to Newton.
After the death of Mr. Busby in 1945, Mrs. Busby made her home in Des Moines for several years living with her daughter, Esther, and her son, Frank. Ten years ago she came to Montezuma and made her home with her daughter, Grace.
Mrs. Busby became ill quite suddenly on Saturday, Jan. 24th, however, she seemed to be rallying from this sudden attack. She passed away very suddenly on Monday evening, Jan. 26th reaching the age of 86 years, 2 months and 28 days.
Mrs. Busby is survived by her children already named, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and infant son and also by 3 grandsons and 1 great-great grandson.
