Aged Broadland Resident Dies

George D. Sackett, aged 82, died in Huron at 11:30 p.m. Saturday following an illness of long duration.

Mr. Sackett, born December 25, 1858, in Brooklyn, Ia., was married September 18, 1878, to Susan Shook in Brooklyn, and they lived there until 1903 when they moved to Beadle County and Mr. Sackett operated a general store and farmed at Broadland until he retired in 1921. Mrs. Sackett preceded him in death May 5, 1935.

Surviving him are three daughters, one son, and one foster son: Mrs. Pearl Adegaard of Michigan; Mrs. Leo Moriarity of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Verna Baker of Washington; Ed Sackett of Wolsey, and the foster son, Sam Sackett of Huron. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Emma Baird of Montezuma, Ia., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock in the Methodist Church in Broadland with the Rev. Miller of Hitchcock officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in Broadland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Welter Chapel between the hours of 7 and 9 o’clock tonight.
