Mary Angeline Hall was born in Berrien county, Michigan, December 24, 1848, and departed this life at her daughter’s home, northwest of Brooklyn, March 21, 1919, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 27 days.
She was united in marriage to James R. Meldrem on March 17, 1868. In 1879 they came to Brooklyn, Iowa, where they lived until called to the live beyond. Mr. Meldrem died five years ago.
To this union five children were born: Lavina, William, Anna, Florence and Robert. Myrtle lived in this home from her fifth year until her marriage four years ago to Homer Wylie. Three of the children are deceased: Lavina, Florence and Robert.
Mrs. Meldrem united with the Brethren church in 1893 and was faithful member of this church. She was a good woman, a devoted mother, and a kind neighbor and friend.
She expressed herself as ready to go to her heavenly home when summoned.
She leaves to mourn her death one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Mowrey; one son, Will; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Strong, Tama, Iowa; Mrs. Jane Puderbaugh, Ozawkie, Kan.; Mrs. Sarah Newton, Mt. Vernon, S.D.; four brothers, Andrew, George, Marion and Ozro, all of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. John W. Pool.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Margaret Strong, Tama; a niece, Mrs. Mary McPherson, Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Jane Puderbaugh and son, Ralph, of Ozawkie, Kan., and Mrs. Homer Wylie of Deep River.
