BERTHA COON, 84

Bertha M. Coon, 84, Grinnell, died this morning (Thursday) at a local rest home following an extended illness.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but friends may call at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home.

Mrs. Coon was born on Sept. 23, 1876, at Victor. She attended the schools of Victor and graduated from high school there. She also attended an academy at Iowa City and later moved to Newton. She had made her home in Grinnell since 1910.

She was united in marriage with Clyde E. Coon at Newton, and they were the parents of a son, George.

Survivors include her son George of Hibbing, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ina Porter and Mrs. Leta Snodgrass, both of Grinnell.

Mrs. Coon was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 13, 1946, her parents, and three brothers and four sisters.
