Mary A. Razey, whose maiden name was Mary A. Mix, was born in Avoca, Wis., April 18, 1850 and died Sunday morning, November 5, 1916 at the ripe age of 66 years, 6 months and 17 days.
She was united in marriage with Joseph W. Razey September 12, 1867. They came to Poweshiek county in 1878. Mrs. Razey was the mother of four children, two sons and two daughters. Two of them have died and the son and daughter, L. G. and Mrs. Ida Shanks are living in Brooklyn and cared for their mother during her illness. Her husband passed into the beyond three years ago.
She leaves her son and daughter with five granddaughters to mourn her loss.
She was a member of the South Side Brethren church and was a faithful and consistent Christian. She was also a member of the Order of Pythian Sisters in Brooklyn who conducted a beautiful service at the cemetery.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Burnworth, pastor of the South Side Brethren church, assisted by Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Christian church, and Dr. I. N. Busby. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
