MRS. FLORENCE EATON

Mrs. Florence Faire Eaton, 84, died at 6:20 Dec. 11 at St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk, where she had been a patient since Dec. 4. She had been in failing health for the past 12 years and seriously ill since Sept. 12, 1966.

The daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mercy Dee Flaig, she was born Sept. 21, 1882 at Brooklyn.

She graduated from the Brooklyn high school and taught school in and around Brooklyn.

On November 5, 1902, she married Harry A . Eaton in Brooklyn. He died Mar. 20, 1945 after which she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Van Hesley. She had lived in Keokuk since 1924.

Mrs. Eaton was cook at the Ford Hopkins Drug Store for 16 years.

She was a member of the Trinity Methodist church, the W.S.C.S. and was a life time member of the Brooklyn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a 50 year member having been initiated in 1901.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H.B. (Armon) Van Hesley of Keokuk and Mrs. W.A. (Fern) Ryder of South Bend, Ind., two sons, Charles H. Eaton of Alhambra, Calif., and Elmore Eaton of Yuma, Ariz., seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death besides her husband by two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Schmidt Memorial Home with the Rev. Cecil A. Wells officiating. Interment in the Oakland cemetery in Keokuk.
