DEAD AT 63

Irene C. Holland, 63, of Grinnell died Thursday evening, Jan. 29, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services for Irene Holland were held at 1 p.m. today (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. John W. McCallum officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner. Pallbearers will be George W. Johnson, Robert Bullock Jr., Darrel McGrew, Dennis Starnes, Clair Strand and John Stubbs. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Holland was the daughter of William and Flora Nichols Stout and was born on May 5, 1912 in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell public schools and was married on September 22, 1930, to Silas Holland in Grinnell. The couple had four children. Mrs. Holland made Grinnell her home for the rest of her life.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Victor (Rosaline) Jeffries of Marshalltown, Mrs. George (Betty Jane) Pickens of Longmont, Colorado, Mrs. Curtis (Delores) Johnson of Grinnell, and Silas Holland Jr. of Newton; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandchild and a brother and sister, William A. Stout and Mrs. Frank (Olga Josephine) Mitchell.
