DELILAH WATSON

Delilah Watson, daughter of Solomon and Mary Watson, was born Sept. 8th, 1827. She came to Iowa with her parents about 1852, being one of nine children four of whom are still living within a few miles of each other in Sugar Creek Twp.--three brothers, Jesse, Simon and William, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Gross.

She lived with her parents till 1877, she then made her home with her brother-in-law, William Hayes, for about seventeen years and then went to live with her brother, William Watson where she made her home about thirteen years until her death.

Several years ago she became blind so that the last few years were spent in darkness.

She was in her usual health until about a week ago when she was relieved by death, Feb. 10, 1907.

The funeral was held at the Christian Church east of Searsboro on Monday, Feb. 11, 1907, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Martin Gregson who preached from the 14th chapter of Job. The remains were laid to rest beside those of her father and mother.
