FRANK WILDERDYKE

Frank Wilderdyke, 54, Valdese, N.C., formerly of Grinnell, died Oct. 5 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C., of a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held Oct. 7 at St. John's Baptist Church in Valdese with burial in the church cemetery.

He was born Dec. 22, 1936, in Independence, Mo., the son of Frank Herman and Dorothy Brown Wilderdyke. He was raised in Grinnell and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, participating in the Cuban missile crisis and the Viet Nam War. He retired as a machinist on the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railways in Barstow, Calif.

He is survived by his father Frank Wilderdyke, Cedar Rapids; his wife Judy Huffman Wilderdyke, Valdese; two sons, Frank Herman Wilderdyke, California, and Frank Joe Wilderdyke, Valdese; two brothers John Wilderdyke, Independence,Mo., and Paul Wilderdyke, Woodbine; two sisters Dorothy Renaud, Phoenix, Ariz., and Marie Harrington, Brideport, N.Y., and two grandchildren.
