OTTO STEFFEN BURIED HERE

Services for Otto Steffen were conducted by the Rev. Jack Weida at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Steffy Funeral Home. Music at the rites was provided by soloist Mrs. Harlan Kluber accompanied by organist Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Paul Hudnut, Lewis Schultz, Oliver Hudnut, Marvin Campbell, Lloyd Sarvis and Dale Montgomery. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mr. Steffen, a lifelong farmer, died at his home Sunday, Jan. 7.

The son of Carl and Augusta Carsten Steffen, he was born June 28, 1911, in Lincoln Township, Iowa County. He attended St. John's Lutheran School near Guernsey. On Jan. 29, 1938, he was married to Fern Louise McKeag at Newton. They lived near Searsboro for three years and then in the Gibson and Deep River areas. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; their children, Kenneth of Grinnell, Mary Sinn of Williamsburg, Roger of Guernsey, Kathryn Sue Brown of Des Moines and Roy, Robert and Martha Steffen, all of rural North English; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Luecht of Grinnell, Elsie Graham of Malcom, Erna Strong of Brooklyn; and three brothers, Henry, Alfred and Melvin, all of Malcom.
