LARRY EUGENE HAMOR

Larry Eugene Hamor Sr. 67, of Huntsville, Mo, and formerly of Grinnell, died Oct. 9, 2012 at home under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at Christ United Methodist Church in Chelsea. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. There will be a private interment.

Larry was born on Nov. 12, 1944 to Paul and Edith Darlene Onthank Hamor in Grinnell.

He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1964. Larry married Patti (Polka) Youngman in 1964 and they had three children. He later married Barb Eid and became father to her two children.

Larry worked at Saunder's DX, the Tama papermilll, Chicago Northwestern as a diesel mechanic, and Fisher Control, and retired from Donaldson's in Grinnell.

He loved camping, trail riding, hunting, boating, fishing, playing cards, Hawkeye football and NASCAR racing. He was president of Ridge Riders Saddle Club for many years. He also loved surfing the internet and watching the live cattle auctions, and going to auctions and flea markets.

Larry is survived by his two daughters, Deb Wagner of Chelsea and Kelli Yilez of Gilman, his father Paul Hamor of Brooklyn, stepson Rick of Zhorne, Tenn., and stepdaughter Heather Matherly of Ankeny; brothers Robert Hamor of Nebraska and Mike Hamor of Gilman, a sister Linda Duncan of Nebraska, 13 grandchildren and many other relations and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Edith Darlene in 1998 and his son Larry Hamor Jr. in 2008.
