OBITUARY (1939)

James McKinley Hicks, son of Albert and Mary Hicks, was born June 14, 1897, at Glenwood, Mo., and passed away September 17, 1939, as the result of injuries received in a car accident, at the age of 42 years past.

On May 20, 1918, he was united in marriage to Ceatta Huff of Eldorado Springs, Mo. To this union four children were born, Mearle, Treva, Hazel and Harold. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hicks resided in Lynnville, Iowa, for about a year, and then moved to Grinnell, where they lived for ten years. The family later located at Montezuma, where they have made their home for almost eleven years.

When a young man, Mr. Hicks united with the Methodist church of Eldorado Springs, Mo.

Besides his widow, and four children all at home, he is survived by two sisters Mrs. Nellie Maddox of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Addie Loomis of Quincy, Ill., and three brothers, Art of Eldorado Springs, Mo., Grant of Nevada, Mo., and Earl, of Monroe, Iowa.
