JUANITA SANDSTROM SERVICES HELD

Juanita Sandstrom, 53, wife of Laverne Sandstrom of Route 2, Malcom , passed away early Saturday morning at her home.

The daughter of Edna Gruhn Ford and Francis A. Ford, Mrs. Sandstrom, was born on June 28, 1916 in Grinnell. Most of her youth was spent in the Malcom Community and she graduated from the Malcom high school in 1933. She was also a graduate of the Broadlawns Polk County Hospital school of nursing and was registered in Iowa in 1941. She worked at the Communnity hospital in Grinnell for a number of years and did private duty.

She was married to L.E. Maxhill, who preceded her in death. On July 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Laverne Sandstrom at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Ia. Following their marriage they farmed, except for two years when they lived in Malcom. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Laverne; her son, Perry of Des Moines; her mother, Mrs. Edna Ford of Grinnell; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Lois) Larsen of Malcom and Mrs. Howard (Gladys) Green of Denver, Colo.; her brother, Burdette Ford of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sandstrom was preceded in death by her father, Francis A. Ford on Sept. 17, 1957 and her first husband.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandstrom were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. James Davidson, pastor of the Malcom Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom.

Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner and vocalist was Mrs. Noel Taylor. Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Frank Herbrandt and Mrs. Harvey Tindle.

Pallbearers were Raymond Ryan, Harvey Tindle, Frank Herbrandt, William Trueblood, Virgil Stone and Merland Pfantz.
