WILLIS ALVIN STEWART

Willis Alvin Stewart, son of Mr and Mrs. D.S. Stewart, was born in Chester township Nov. 14th, 1876, and there he grew to manhood.

Willis was known and loved by a large circle of friends. His business called him over a large portion of the surrounding country, and wherever he went he made friends.

While never very robust, he was in his usual health until one week before is death, when a disease that had troubled him some for some time became acute and he passed away.

About two hours before his death, he called his father's family to his bed-side, and calmly told them he wished to bid them good bye. He wished to have as many of the neighbors called as could be conveniently reached. As they came in he told them that he felt that he had but a short time to live, but knew he was going to a Heavenly home, and asked them not to grieve as he was not afraid to die.

He joined the Congregational church of Grinnell in his 17th year and has lived a consistent Christian life.

His father, mother, sister, and brother and many friends whom he loved and who loved him mourn the loss of a dutiful son, loving brother, and a faithful friend.

The funeral services were conducted from the house last Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. E.M. Vittum. They were very largely attended by neighbors and friends. The interment as in Hazelwood Cemetery.
