FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BARTON SPARKS THIS AFTERNOON

Barton Sparks passed away Friday noon in the Lone Elm rest home. He would have been 96 years old on his next birthday, Dec. 5, and of those years, 85 had been spent in Grinnell.

Mr. Sparks was married on Feb. 14, 1886, to Laura Head of Blue Point who preceded him in death. He is survived by two children, Mrs. W.F. Peck of Des Moines and Donald Sparks of Grinnell, a brother, Andrew Sparks of Lexington, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Katherine McDonald of Seattle, Wash.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Smith funeral home in charge of Rev. Wm. Welsh. Organ selections were rendered by Mrs. Rhee Auman. Pall bearers were Dess Martin, Jack Clifford, Raymond Playle, Perry Wilson, John Ditzler and William Honn. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
