HAMILTON RITES HELD WEDNESDAY
Jane Hamilton died Sunday morning, June 19, at Grinnell General Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. F. Jane Hamilton were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at the Ewart United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, minister of the First United Presbyterian Church in Grinnell, and the Rev. Martin Gruneich, minister of the Ewart church, officiating. Organist for the service was Rebecca Arnaman and vocalist was Linda Stout.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Ronald Arnaman, Wilbur Baltisberger, Leonard Goeke, Daryl Goodlow, Keith Hamilton, Edwin Hockett, Lowell Hockett, Robert Hockett, and Gary Johnston. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart.
Born on Dec. 19, 1897, near Ewart, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Jeffrey McConnell. She attended schools near the family farm and later attended Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines. She was employed in the Morrison-Ricker Glove Factory and the Ford Garage in Grinnell.
She married William Edward Hamilton at her parents' farm home on Dec. 10, 1924. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Ewart. In 1947, she and her husband moved to Grinnell. The couple had recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Grace) Arnaman. She now is survived by her husband, W. Edward Hamilton of St. Francis Manor; her brother, Paul J. McConnell of Grinnell; and two sisters, Mrs. Vesta (Leona) Johnston of Montezuma, and Mrs. Norman (Gladys) Hockett of Grinnell.
