EMMA E. BRIMMER

A mass of Christian burial was held Friday morning, April 16, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, for Mrs. Emma E. Brimmer, 92, of Marion, and formerly of Brooklyn. She died Tuesday morning, April 13, 1999, in Manor Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Rapids.

The Rev. Richard Okumu officiated and the organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Casket bearers were Roger Sumner, Neal Sumner, Scott Sumner, Rick Robinson, Rick Gilland and David Walford. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Emma Elizabeth Roth Brimmer, the daughter of Joseph Roth and Catherine Marchina Roth, was born May 27, 1906, near Brooklyn.

Emma received her education in a rural school. On Nov. 8, 1927, she was married to Howard Brimmer in St. Patrick's Church in Brooklyn. They made their home in Brooklyn, where she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and St. Patrick's Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, her garden, and playing cards.

Mr. Brimmer preceded her in death on July 9, 1994. Since then, she has made her home with her daughter in Marion.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Sumner of Marion; a sister-in-law, Beulah Roth of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Wendy Robinson, Roger Sumner, Neal Sumner and Scott Sumner; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Nevenhoven Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
