RITES HELD FOR LEONA GRUHN

Leona M. Gruhn, 80, of rural Kellogg died Friday evening at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Klein, pstor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Gruhn's name may be made to the Victor Grange and left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Thomas and Anna Noel Coburn, she was born Jan. 23, 1900, near Montezuma. She attended school at Brooklyn, graduating from high school in 1918.

She was married to Lester V. Gruhn at Montezuma on May 22, 1918. Following their marriage, they lived near Malcom until 1945, later moving to the Rock Creek area where they farmed. Mrs. Gruhn remained on the farm following her husband's death. She moved to Grinnell in December. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist church and the Victor Grange.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Johnson of Grinnell and Raymond Gruhn of rural Grinnell; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Pavek of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Esther Cunninghamm of Kellogg; and one brother, Raymond Coburn of Kellogg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, four brothers, and two children, Harold in infancy and Lucille who died at age 4.
