SATURDAY RITES HELD HERE FOR VELMA REYNOLDS

Mrs. Ben (Velma) Reynolds, 74, of 1421 Broad Street, died Thursday forenoon at a local hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with Dorothy Robson officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Homer Lowery and Mrs. Virgil Jones. Pallbearers were Virgil Jones, LaVaughn Cram, Orrie Haag, Edward Speth, Eugene Fenske and Jack Mathews. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

The daughter of Charles and Susie Berchard Rowland, she was born on June 13th, 1891, at Kellogg. She was a graduate of the Kellogg school and following graduation from high school was employed in Kellogg and then moved to Grinnell in 1908.

In April of 1909 she was united in marriage with Ben H. Reynolds at Newton, She and her husband traveled together for many years, selling shoes in midwestern states. Fourteen years ago they retired.

She was a member of the Christian Science church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Gray Ladies.

Survivors include her husband, Ben H. Reynolds, and her nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her family, being preceded in death by her parents; two half-sisters, Una Miller and Edna Powers; and her half-brother, James H. Rowland.
