HOLD SERVICES FOR MCCAULLEY

Homer J. McCaulley of University Park, Ia., died at his home there on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the age of 88.

Fuenral services for Homer McCaulley were held in the Newman Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, with Dr. George A. Sheils officiating. Burial with committal services were in the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Born in Tama County 13 miles northeast of Grinnell on May 22, 1890, he was the son of Joseph and Harriet Smith McCaulley. In 1896, he moved with his parents to Monroe County and lived near Moravia. Later, in 1910, they moved again to a farm 1-1/2 miles west of Grinnell.

On Oct. 28, 1914, he married Mabel E. Hartzell. The couple had two daughters and five sons. Prior to the marriage, he lived for a time in Victor, where he owned a meat market. He also worked a short time between 1912 and 1913 as a railway mail clerk. He lived near Malcom from 1923 to 1934 where he operated a meat market, and also in Keota for short time.

In 1935, the couple moved to University Park, where he was engaged in the wholesale meat business until his retirement in 1959.

Surviving him are his wife; his daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Margaret) Adolphs of University Park and Mrs. Roland (Eleanor) Barnett of Mason City; his sons, Wilbur of Sand Point, Idaho, Roger of El Paso, Tex., Warren of Louisville, Ken., Kenneth of Cleveland, Ohio and Robert of Oskaloosa; and 22 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, six brothers, and one grandson.
