BEAUTIFUL AND USEFUL LIFE IS ENDED

Many hearts were saddened when it became known that Mrs. R.F. Couper had passed away. The end came unexpectedly and without warning.

Mrs. Couper and her son were living together on a farm about eight miles south of Grinnell.

Mrs. Couper was born Kate Matilda Schutten on Feb. 8, 1856, near Beardstown, Ill., and departed this life at her home, June 15th, 1928, aged 72 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She was united in marriage to Robert F. Couper in March, *1871. To this union were born eleven children, five of whom had preceded the mother to the spirit world. Those living are: William, living near Grinnell; George, of Wallace, Idaho; Robert R., at home; Harry E. of Wallace, Idaho; Frank R. of Grinnell and Ernest L. of Grinnell.

Mrs. Couper leaves to mourn her passing her sons and their families who number nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two brothers, one in Alberta, Canada, and one in Oklahoma City, Okla., with a host of friends who loved her for her many fine qualities of heart that made all who knew her, true and sincere friends. In her younger years she became interested in the church and religion and united with the Presbyterian church to which she held faithfully thorough a long life.

The funeral services were held from the home conducted by Rev. H.L. Wissler of Chester Center, where the family had lived for a number of years, and the body was laid to rest by the side of that of her husband in the Rock Creek cemetery. The pall bearers were Joe Dexter, Jim Livezey, Joe Humbert, A.D. Rayle, Chas. Adkins and Ed Wilkins.
