PARK RITES TUESDAY AT 2

Last rites for Miss Ada C. Park, who was strangled to death in a Pullman car near Douglas, Ariz., last Thursday morning while en route back to Grinnell from a visit in the West will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at th First Congregational church.

The body arrived in Grinnell Saturday evening.

Smith's funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Leland W. Mann will give the words of comfort.

Casketbearers will be: Lyman Case, L.G. Keeney, R.S. Kinsey, J.W. Charlton, Wilbur Molison and Croft Pilgrim.

R.E. Bates will be flower bearer and burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Transcriber Note: She was murdered by Harold Thomas Lantz and he was convicted; sentenced to death; and executed July 18, 1951

OBITUARY
ADA C. PARK

Ada Cora, daughter of Carrie R. Beaton and Oliver Winslow Park, was born June 16, *1880 in a sod house near Macon, Neb. She departed this life August 10, 1950.

When she was a small child, she came with her parents to make their home on a farm northwest of Grinnell. At the age of 13 she came to make her home with her mother's father in Grinnell.

She received her education in the Grinnell schools and was graduated from Grinnell college in 1904. After graduation, she spent two years teaching in mission schools in New Mexico.

Early in life she joined the Congregational church, and all through life she was active and interested in her church activities. She was a member of this church for 57 years.

She was a member of the D.A.R., the Daughters of the Union Veterans, the Historical and Literary club, the W.C.T.U., the Omega Sigma society and other organizations.

Most of her life was spent caring for others. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

She is survived by one brother, Hubbard Beaton Park of Marina, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. J.L. Carpenter of Grinnell; one niece, Mrs. Daniel T. Gnau, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; three nephews, J. David Carpenter of Ottumwa, Oliver Winslow Carpenter of Denver, Colo. and Donovan Carpenter of Madison, Wis.
